A few “cow quips” became several & then yeilded a cow drawing. Jude said, “Too cute – better suited to kids.” So, I course corrected and we landed on our current cow style.
This felt right and fit a cartoon look more appropriate to a general audience – one who enjoys lighthearted diversion. These cows are not too risqué, though they’re occasionally a bit edgy & sarcastic.
Then a single cow became a herd.
(Yes, sometimes we beat a dead horse, but no cows were harmed
in the making of.)
So, from history to music, art to pop culture, science to underwear ads, You Silly Cow presents an Alternate Cow Universe of funny, “punny” illustrations & phrases. Parody & punchline showcase universal experiences & foibles, provocative, yet entertaining. We aim to bring joy – comic relief from the daily grind, painting a colorful bovine world that mirrors our own.

Cows + Puns = Fun!
Hi. Meet the Spinster Sisters. We’re all about fun & light-hearted entertainment. Much of that starts with the spark of an idea or often from parody, word-smithing or puns. Add to that engaging visuals and you get sometimes sweetness & whimsey, sometimes tongue-in-cheek sarcasm & satire.
So, check out “You Silly Cow” to see just how amusing barnyard bovines can be. This alternative universe is colorful, diverse in focus &, well, just plain silly.
And we hope to bring you a whole lot more – more cows & more of everything fun & funky. Just stay tuned.
Gail & Jude Stampar (AKA The Spinster Sisters) moved a number of times throughout the U.S. while growing up & as adults, sometimes multiple places in some states: Pennsylvania; New Jersey; South Carolina; Ohio; North Carolina; NYC & Nevada (Gail); Connecticut (Jude) and, as of now, Florida. Living so many locales in the U.S. was educational, interesting, exposed us to various cultures & taught us to be adaptive.
Gail received BFA’s in Painting from University of Delaware and Graphic Design from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. Jude received a BFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. Both worked for
years in graphic design.
Jude & Gail love to come up with fun & funny ideas, characters, writing & images. Gail also enjoys painting (PopArt to Photo Real), conceiving & constructing concept outfits or costumes, creating Photoshop & Illustrator art and writing parody songs.
Jude has a background as a talented metalsmith & ceramicist. She also revels in creative sewing/stitchery and developed a unique “painting” style, depicting humorous subjects. Jude’s experience & ability with creative writing, both prose & poetry, serve the Silly Cows well.
Where did all this creative urge come from? From our Mom & Dad,
an engineer & a nurse, of course!
